- Cameroon - University of Yaounde II

1 Presentation

Training Program in Economic Policy Management (EPM) at the University of Yaounde II was approved by the Board of Directors of Africa Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) in November 26, 1997, and shortly before by the Board of Directors of the World Bank, under the Japanese scholarship programs of the World Bank Institute (WBI).

The objective of this program is to substantially increase the critical mass of African professionals experts in management of economic policy to improve considerably the quality of public decision making in government on the continent in general and Cameroon in particular.

It is today supported by the Government of Cameroon and It was recognized retroactively by the Ministerial Decree No. 06/0104/MINESUP/DDES of September 14, 2006, and it delivers the Diploma of Specialized Studies ( DESS) in Management of Economic Policy, who will become the Professional Master II MCP with the docking of the University of Yaounde II to License-Master-Doctorate (LMD) System.

 

2 Coverage Zone

At the beginning , the EPM Training Program Yaounde was intended to cover a large area also including Central Africa, the Great Lakes Region and the Indian Ocean or the Horn of Africa. All these regions were indeed also face severe capacity deficits in management of macroeconomic and sectoral policies. It was thus envisaged a Regional Coordinating Committee, in view of organizing the promotion of the program in this vast geographical area, and conclude cooperation agreements with institutions to identify.

 

3 Admission

The program is designed for executives with a good knowledge base in economics with a college-level BAC +4 or equivalent experience with a minimum of three years.

Admission to the program is based on a written test on the economy, and the presentation of a statement demonstrating excellent academic achievements and high professional skills .

The course lasts twelve months and is divided into four quarters.
